Iron Brothers Films

Meaning in life can only exist in story

Forged in the winter wilderness of Idaho and Wyoming, Iron Brothers Films takes its name from Iron Brothers, our debut feature, and the nickname it earned us on the film festival circuit. What began as a passion project became an independent production company crafting films, music videos, and original stories with cinematic ambition on shoestring budgets.

Meet the
Iron Brothers

Josh, Tate, and Porter Smith are real brothers. Their family moved eleven times before they finished high school, so the three became each other's best friends, and later, each other's crew.

Josh

Co-Founder. Writer · Director · Producer · Cinematographer · Editor

Josh has chased wild adventures, from starring in reality TV in high school to climbing mountains in the Arctic. When he sets his sights on something, he'll go through hell for it. That's how he ended up shooting a feature in the frigid wilds of Idaho and Wyoming. Since then, he's co-written The Badland with Tate and started Captain Kepler Creativ.

Tate

Co-Founder. Writer · Director · Producer · Actor · Musician

Film and music sent Tate chasing adventure: spelunking the caves of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surfing the Pacific Coast, canyoneering the Red Rocks. He brings that lived-in grit to the screen. He co-directed and starred in Iron Brothers, a shoot so frigid he called it more documentary than fiction. He co-wrote The Badland with Josh and drums for Lantern by Sea, the band he started with Porter.

Porter

Actor · Musician

The youngest brother, Porter caught the acting bug watching his brothers on stage in a school play and was in improv classes by ten. When his brothers wrote him a part in Iron Brothers, he helped build the cabin, lived the mountain man life on screen, and worked on the film's music. Today he sings and plays guitar for Lantern by Sea.
